Welcome to Generación SEA! We’re a dynamic binational academy on a mission to empower young leaders in the Cali-Baja region through hands-on learning and impactful action in climate resilience. If you’re a high school student aged 15-18 with a burning passion for climate science and environmental advocacy, this is your chance to dive in and make a difference! Join us and be part of a vibrant community dedicated to creating a more sustainable future.

    • Enhance Environmental Literacy

      • Objective: Equip youth with a deep understanding of environmental principles, the interplay of environmental and social factors, and the importance of sustainability.

    • Foster Cross-Border Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing

      • Objective: Promote cooperation between youth in the San Diego/Tijuana region, sharing knowledge on environmental efforts and building a transborder community.

    • Empower Youth Leadership and Advocacy

      • Objective: Develop leadership skills and inspire participants to lead in climate resilience advocacy and community initiatives, culminating in a youth-led Climate Resilience advocacy toolkit.

    • Promote Sustainable Practices and Green Economy Skills

      • Objective: Encourage sustainable practices and educate on green economies to foster economic opportunities in sustainable sectors.

    • Strengthen Community Engagement, Youth Development, and Career Readiness

      • Objective: Build connections with local communities, support youth development, and prepare participants for careers in environmental science or related fields.

    • Coastal Resilience: Addressing challenges like erosion, pollution, and climate impacts in the Cali-Baja region.

    • Experiential Learning: Using hands-on experiences and workshops to deepen understanding and skills.

    • Community Engagement: Collaborating with local organizations and fostering community involvement.

    • Youth Empowerment: Developing leadership and advocacy skills to drive climate action.

    • Sustainable Practices: Promoting green economy skills and sustainable living.

    • Duration: Starts in October and runs for 10 weeks, with weekly sessions focusing on various aspects of climate resilience held on Saturdays.

    • Participants: Students between the age of 15-18

    • Applicants need to fill out an online application form available at https://t8qjb0kjloh.typeform.com/to/He36OKrAwhich includes personal information, written responses, a video submission, and uploading any relevant supporting documents.

Ready to apply?

  1. Applicants should be between the ages of 15-18.

  2. Meet the video submission requirements.

    The video should be no longer than 2 minutes, shot on a cell phone in vertical format, and uploaded to a third-party service like YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive. Ensure the video settings allow for public sharing. The video should introduce yourself, your background, your reasons for joining the academy, and your interest in climate sciences.

  3. Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferrred.

    The program is bilingual, and proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred. Applicants are required to answer at least one question in their second language during the video submission.
