Watershed Explorers

Watershed Explorers is a transformative educational program designed to connect youth with the natural environment, fostering a deeper understanding of watersheds while promoting environmental stewardship and park engagement. This immersive experience takes participants on a journey from the majestic mountains of Cuyamaca to the picturesque shores of Cardiff State Beach, exploring the interconnectedness of land and water along the way.

  • Access to state parks and beaches is a pressing issue for many underserved communities in San Diego County. Economic barriers, transportation challenges, and limited awareness often prevent these communities from enjoying the natural beauty and recreational opportunities that parks have to offer.

  • Explore the journey of water as we embark on a hiking adventure through Cuyamaca State Park. Discover lovely meadows while learning about the origins of watersheds. The following day, we’ll dive into the importance of beach conservation and strategies for harmonious coexistence with coastal wildlife.

  • Through Watershed Explorers, we aim to build a strong and lasting partnership with California State Parks. We offer assistance to sign up and activate Adventure Passes, granting you and your family free access to 54 state parks!
