Community Resilience Model Workshop

The Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® trains community members to not only help themselves but to help others in their communities. Developed by Elaine Miller-Karas, Co-Founder and Director of Innovation of the Trauma Resource Institute and author of the book, Building Resiliency to Trauma, the Trauma and Community Resiliency Models (2015). The Trauma Resource Institute (TRI) is a nonprofit organization devoted to cultivating trauma-informed and resiliency-focused individuals and communities throughout the world. This workshop will be hosted by Yvette Beltran, Un Mar Program Director and Certified Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® Teacher.

CRM’s goal is to help to create trauma-informed and resiliency-focused communities that share a common understanding of the impact of trauma and chronic stress on the nervous system and how resiliency can be restored or increased using this skills-based approach. You will learn how to identify resiliency zones, track your nervous system, and how to use natural spaces to regulate your nervous system.

Our goal is to train our surf instructors, mentors, and volunteers with the adequate tools to support themselves and our students in the water.

Thursday March 21st 5-8pm Union Co-Work 111 C St, Encinitas, CA 92024.

Sliding scale donation towards our Youth Programs is suggested $20-30.  Donation can be made up in person or online at with subject line: CRM Workshop https://www.mightycause.com/organization/Un-Mar-De-Colores

Coastal Roots Fim & Farm Series

The Shoshone people have lived on the eastern slope of Wyoming’s Wind River Range for more than 10,000 years. The Wind River, which flows through their homeland, has deep meaning for them and the Northern Arapaho, the tribe they now share this land with. The water is crucial to their way of life, history and customs. After hundreds of years of witnessing their waters, lands and culture come under constant attack, there is hope that an outdoor-based, sustainable recreational economy could flourish here.

Coastal Roots Farm Film and Music Series

Coastal Roots Farm Film and Music Series

The Blue Forest is the first comprehensive film focusing on the important topics of kelp and seaweed around the world. The film also explores how we can preserve one of the world’s most productive habitats. Kelp forests are recognised as one of the most complex and vital ecosystems on Earth, easily comparable to the Amazon forest. They are crucial to the health and survival of our planet, but sadly we are at risk of losing them.

The team visited Chile’s Atacama coast and documented the voluntary wild deforestation of the world’s largest kelp reserve. The waters of Chile have some of the best conditions for kelp forests to thrive naturally and yet human extraction is threatening their very existence. We do have time to protect the kelp but we must act quickly. The purpose of our film is to educate, inspire and encourage valuable action to prevent further devastation.
