One Ocean is our unique one year scholarship program for 30 students between the ages of 6-12. This comprehensive program combines Surf Therapy, Eco-Field Trips, and Mentorship modules. Bi-monthly meet ups are conducted on the weekend to encourage family participation.

    • Promote Environmental Awareness: Foster a deep understanding and appreciation of ocean ecosystems and environmental stewardship among young students.

    • Encourage Personal Growth: Support the development of resilience, self-confidence, and social skills through surf therapy and mentorship.

    1. Surf Therapy:

      • Utilize surf therapy to improve physical fitness, emotional well-being, and interpersonal skills.

      • Provide hands-on experience with ocean safety and surf techniques.

    2. Eco-Field Trips:

      • Organize educational excursions to natural environments to enhance students' understanding of ecosystems and conservation.

      • Engage students in activities that highlight the importance of protecting marine and coastal environments.

    3. Mentorship Modules:

      • Pair students with mentors to offer guidance, support, and inspiration.

      • Focus on building leadership skills and personal development through one-on-one and group interactions.

    4. Family Participation:

      • Conduct bi-monthly meet-ups to involve families and strengthen the support network for students.

      • Create opportunities for families to engage in the program’s activities and share in their child’s learning journey.

    • Duration: One year

    • Participants: 30 students, ages 6-12

    • Frequency: Bi-monthly weekend meet-ups

    • Enrollment Status: Application enrollment for the 2024-2026 cycle is closed.

    • Future Applications: Families may apply, but applications will not be reviewed until January 2026, with selections made in March 2026.

Ready to apply to one of our programs?

Youth applicants should be 3/4 of the following criteria:

  1. Local to San Diego County.

    We serve students from North County San Diego by operating out of Oceanside and Encinitas Beaches.

    We serve students from South County San Diego by operating out of La Jolla Shores and Coronado.

  2. From historically marginalized communities.

    Our mission is to celebrate diversity and create connection to the ocean by providing surfing and environmental education programing to serve families who may not have the resources to participate otherwise.

  3. From a Low Income Family.

    Priority given to students from families receiving federal and/or state assistance such as Section 8 Housing, Medi-Cal, and Cal-Fresh.

  4. Appropriate age for each respective program.
